Walking in the Light: Reflecting Jesus to the World

ree

From the moment I found Jesus, my life has been transformed. This journey of getting to know Him has filled me with freedom, love, peace, and joy—things I never thought I’d truly experience. As I walk with Him, my heart overflows with a desire to bring as many people as I can along this journey.

It brings me so much happiness to share His Word, to speak of His goodness, and to point others to the hope and purpose only found in Him. That’s why I’m so passionate about people getting to know God. I’ve experienced firsthand how He can bring life to a heart that once felt empty and hopelessness.

Every Wednesday, I host a Bible study, and while every session is special, this week felt different. My heart was on fire as I shared one of my favorite topics: being a vessel for God. Together, we discussed what it means to reflect Jesus in our daily lives, to be a light so bright, and to fulfill the calling He’s placed on us.

Below is the Bible study plan I created for my bible study ladies. I hope it inspires you and sets a fire in your heart to be a light in the world!

Walking in the Light: Reflecting Jesus to the World

"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age." (Matthew 28:19-20)

In this passage, known as the Great Commission, Jesus gives His followers a mission: to share His message of love and salvation with everyone, everywhere. But how do we live this out practically? Here’s how we explored this powerful calling:

What is the Great Commission?

We started by breaking down the Great Commission into simple, actionable steps:

  • Go and make disciples: Share the message of Jesus with others.

  • Baptize them: Help them take the next step in publicly declaring their faith.

  • Teach them: Show them how to live a Christ-centered life.

  • Trust His promise: Jesus is always with us, helping us as we share His love.

This mission isn’t just for pastors or missionaries—it’s for everyone who follows Jesus. We can all reflect Him in our words, actions, and relationships.

Follow up Scriptures:

We discussed these powerful verses to understand what it means to reflect Jesus:

Matthew 5:14-16 "You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven."

Reflection Question:

  • How can we ensure our light shines brightly in our actions and words?

My answer: To live a life that honors God and to truly live out his word. If I happen make a mistake (I am human) to remember that God's grace is sufficient so I will seek repentance, ask for forgivingness and turn away from sin.

Galatians 5:22-23: The fruit of the Spirit helps us live in a way that sets us apart as God’s children. The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

Living Set Apart:

To reflect Jesus, we must live “set apart” from the world. This doesn’t mean isolating ourselves—it means living with purpose, guided by God’s Word, so our lives show others a different, better way.

Ask yourself:

  • How can I shine the light of Jesus in my home, workplace, or community?

  • Are my actions and words pointing others to God?

1 Peter 2:9: Reminds us that we are chosen, called to proclaim God’s goodness to those around you.

A Challenge for You:

This week, take time to reflect on how you’re walking in the light. Choose one way to show Jesus’ love to someone in your life—whether it’s through an act of kindness, sharing your story, or offering a listening ear.

Closing Thoughts & Prayer:

Jesus said we would be known by our fruits (Matthew 7:16). When we walk in His light, we not only fulfill the Great Commission, but we also give others a glimpse of the hope, love, and joy found in a relationship with Him.

Let’s live as His reflection, so others are drawn to His light through us!

God,

I thank you for loving and choosing us to be apart of your family. Help us fulfill the purpose you set before us and bring others to your wonderful Kingdom. There's no other like you God and we are willing and ready to share your word. I pray that you protect us on this journey and that no weapon formed against us should prosper.

In Jesus name we pray AMEN.
